Update from HEF Board of Directors
The Backpack Coalition came about as a way for Harrisonburg backpack projects to support each other and share best practices. By partnering with Harrisonburg Education Foundation, coalition members worked collaboratively with the school district as well as a wide variety of partners. The group met quarterly, created a network of committed volunteer leaders and worked jointly to fundraise to support all programs.
It has been an honor for HEF to support the work of the volunteers, school personnel and fiscal agents of backpack programs in Harrisonburg City Public Schools. While we recognize the need to restructure that support moving forward, we want to express our gratitude and admiration of this initiative and all of those contributing to its growth and success.
