Support Our Colleagues
Within our Harrisonburg City Public Schools staff, there are also some who are struggling. In order to help ease the burden for those employees, HCPS has partnered with the Harrisonburg Education Foundation to establish an Employee Relief Fund. This fund provides an opportunity for our HCPS staff to join together to provide swift assistance to our colleagues facing acute and urgent financial distress as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Relief funds will range from $250-$1500 for one-time grants per household. The number of requests we can grant will depend on the amount of funds donated. Our hope is that, through the generosity of our HCPS community, we are able to provide assistance to every staff member who requests it.
The process of granting requests will be confidential. The fund committee will conduct a blind review of each application and no personal identifying information will be shared with the committee. Each applicant’s unique situation and needs will be considered. Applicants will hear a response to their application within 2 weeks.
Difficult times often require support from others. If you have a need, we encourage you to apply for assistance without hesitation. Likewise, if you are able, please consider making a donation to help ease the burden of a colleague.

Are you able to support other employee families?
Employees can contribute to the Employee Relief Fund online via credit card or via check. Your tax-deductible gift will be processed by the Harrisonburg Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization with 100% of your donation going directly to the fund. Checks should list the Employee Relief Fund in the memo and made payable to Harrisonburg Education Foundation. Online donations can be processed below: |
