Help load and distribute food for the Salvation Army Mobile Pantry!
The Salvation Army Mobile Pantry is a partner in the Harrisonburg Backpack Coalition.
2-4 Volunteers needed for 1 OR 2 HOURS of work.
1st Hour at Salvation Army at 185 Ashby Avenue, Harrisonburg arriving 4:00PM - Load folding tables, canned goods, frozen meat, cereals, pasta, rice and beans etc. into their truck to take to the Mobile Pantry site. Arrive at 4:00PM and wear a mask.
2nd Hour - at Mobile Pantry site which alternates weekly arriving 5:00PM - Unload the truck and set up the pantry at the week’s Mobile Pantry Location from 5-6PM. Encourage families to “shop” at the pantry and restock from the truck as needed. Repack truck at the end of the hour.
Two volunteers are needed at each site. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for both hours at both sites, or one hour at one site. The Salvation Army will contact volunteers if the pantry is canceled or must be rescheduled for inclement weather. All volunteers must include their contact information when they sign up.
