Student Scholarships - Application
Harrisonburg Education Foundation is delighted to award scholarships to graduating HCPS seniors for our 23nd consecutive year. Funds come from a variety of sponsors and each has unique eligibility requirements. Scholarship applications are reviewed by a committee appointed by HEF and awarded each spring.

NEW! Rocktown Academic Excellence and Service Scholarship - $1,000 (for RHS)
Donald and Mary Kirwan established this scholarship to support and encourage students at Rocktown High School, while also inspiring others in the community to create additional scholarship opportunities for Rocktown students. This scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2026 to a RHS student who demonstrates academic excellence and service. *Any eligible applicant that had already applied when the scholarship was established will be considered. |

Guidelines & General Eligibility
Application requires three parts. All are due March 28, 2026 at 11:59pm and must be submitted through google forms provided.
1) Student Application - Google Form

2) Teacher/Coach Recommendation - Google Form

- Students must use scholarship funds for higher education (university/college/community college) expenses only.
- Harrisonburg Education Foundation (HEF)/The Community Foundation shall make all payments directly to the higher education institution.
- Harrisonburg High School or Rocktown High School must verify a student’s acceptance to an institution of higher education before funds are awarded.
- Be a member of the current graduating class of Harrisonburg High School or Rocktown High School.
- Be planning to attend and have applied to an accredited institution of higher education (university/college/community college) and enter that institution by September following the date of this scholarship application.
- Be in good standing with school in terms of character, citizenship, and academics.

TIPS:
- Choose a teacher, coach or staff member who knows you well.
- Make a formal request to the staff member; in other words, ask for the recommendation in person, by a telephone conversation, or by sending a formal email.
- Ask early, to give your chosen recommender at least two weeks to respond.
